Sister Mary Rebecca Koterba, RSM, MD, FACS, MAPhysician, Surgeon
Sister Mary Rebecca Koterba, RSM, MD, FACS, FAPWH, MA is board certified in general surgery. She attended Michigan State University College of Human Medicine and completed a surgical residency at Saginaw Cooperative Hospitals in 1988. She has worked at Sacred Heart Mercy Health Care Center in Alma, MI since that time. She was chief of surgery at Gratiot Community Hospital from 1996-1999 and again from 2004-2008.
She is also a fellow of the Academy of Physicians in Wound Healing and the Medical Director of the Mid-Michigan Health-Gratiot Wound Treatment Center.
In addition to her busy outpatient practice and surgical schedule, she is co-founder of and consultant for Women’s Breast Health @ MidMichigan Cancer Center-Gratiot. She is a member of the American College of Surgeons, Association for the Advancement of Wound Care, the American Society of Breast Surgeons and the Society of the American Gastrointestinal Endoscopic Surgeons. She traveled to Haiti shortly after the earthquake to perform surgery and wound care for those in need. She has also done missionary work as a surgeon in Peru.
