Sister Grace Miriam Usala, RSMMedical Student
Sister Grace Miriam (Rachel) Usala, RSM, is the eldest of four children of Drs. Stephen and Faye Usala. She obtained her bachelor’s degree in chemistry from Bryn Mawr College before entering the Religious Sisters of Mercy in 2007.
After a period of basic formation in Alma, Michigan, and of apostolic activity in Washington, DC, she matriculated at Georgetown University School of Medicine in 2010, where she is currently pursuing research, didactic, and clinical training as a MD/MS candidate.
Her interests include systems medicine, internal medicine and endocrinology, cognitive sciences applied to improving education, informatics, and bioethics.
She pursues her “educational preparation in a spirit of service, recognizing that this preparation both facilitates and is itself a service” (RSM Constitutions #33).
Sister Teresa Mary Kozlovski, RSMMedical Student
Sister Teresa Mary is a native of Duluth, Minnesota, where her parents and brother currently reside. She entered the Religious Sisters of Mercy in 2005 after graduating from high school. In 2012, she graduated from Michigan State University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Human Biology and began medical school later that year.
Sister Teresa Mary is currently a second-year medical student at Georgetown University School of Medicine in Washington, D.C. She looks forward to incorporating the faith and mercy into the practice of health care.
A recent academic project was a poster presentation in early November at the 2013 Northeast Regional Family Medicine Education Consortium meeting in Philadelphia, entitled: “Applications of the Science of Fertility”.
